Western Caribbean Cruise - Day Seven
Since we were up past 1 a.m. the night before, we slept in until 10. Thankfully the highly-caffeinated cruise director did not make any early morning announcements over the P.A. system (on other mornings we heard these announcements as early as 8 a.m.). Since we were late, we had the buffet breakfast at Red Sail and managed to sit with some members of our party. After breakfast we went to find lounge chairs by the pool but of course on a day when everyone was at sea, they were packed. We went up a deck and found empty chairs – but it was also starting to rain, so we went back down to Lido Deck, where they were closing the skylight cover over the pool. We snagged a table and chairs under cover and read. Later we got some pizza. The weather didn’t cooperate so the roof stayed shut and it got fairly warm in the area, so we went back to our room to relax. That night was the second “elegant” night so we dressed up for the occasion. We were very impressed with the menu on this evening – based on the selections, we called it Italian night. We both had tomatoes with mozzarella and basil for an appetizer. Keith had an excellent veal parmesan (it was a very large portion) and Lori had penne with vodka sauce. We shared our meals with each other. After dinner, we returned to the karaoke club, this time with Lori’s mother in tow. She had never heard either of us sing karaoke and didn’t know what to expect. She enjoyed herself, especially when an older gentleman was singing oldies and Frank Sinatra. After a couple hours Lori accompanied her to the elevator so she could go back to her room. We called it a night shortly thereafter. When we got back to our room, there was a birthday card and decorations on the door (Lori’s birthday was the following day and her sister and niece had decorated it).
